2016, My Year in Review

January

In January I turned 29! This was a hard one to swallow, this was the last year in my 20’s and the first year I did not make any resolutions. I finally learned that resolutions set you up for failure, not success, and life change is about daily decisions not annual ones. Instead, I made this the year of taking things one day at a time, and it made all the difference in the world. I also ran my first 5k the weekend of my birthday, and I finished in record time for my running history.

February

WordCamp Miami was in February this year which was a full weekend. I ran the KidsCamp, gave a talk about Local SEO and led a Panel of Kids with questions about how they use WordPress. We celebrated Valentines Day and I registered to run my second 5k.

March

The second 5k I was supposed to run I ended up not running since I did not feel so great. I ended up in the hospital that night instead of running. The hospital trip lead to the diagnosis of Hemiplegic Migraines which helped me get on the right medicine to help prevent the migraines I had suffered with for most of 2015. Shortly after that, my husband and I celebrated our 6th anniversary at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

April

My kiddo turned 10. Yes, that is right. My little boy turned 10… This was a huge year for him. He wrapped up his first year of homeschooling in April and went to Washington DC to learn about our Nations history hands on.

May

We had the privilege of  traveling to Minneapolis for Chris to speak at WordCamp and for us to catch up with an old friend of ours. It was great to meet new people and to start laying the foundations for CE Squared to really take off.

June

Locally we had a crazy tragic month for June. On the 12th, we had one of the worst mass shootings in the nation, where 49 people were killed and 53 were injured. This tragedy brought Orlando together like I have never seen before. I had the honor to help out with a fundraiser to help the victims shortly after. Life is too short to be selfish and to not give back to the community and to those in need.

July

We celebrated 4th of July with lots of fireworks and family fun. There are some major benefits to having family who are zoned agriculture, which allows for mortars to be shot. It made for a fun 4th for sure!

August

We celebrate a bunch of family birthdays in August which means lots of family time. It is great to be around family as much as possible and I love mine so much! August brought with it more business for CE Squared which meant that the time spent with family was even more special.

September

We took my kiddo to his first WordCamp this month. Tampa WordCamp included a KidsCamp that was so much fun! We transitioned Chris from his full time job to CE Squared full time, and we celebrated one of my sisters birthdays.

October

A lot of changes came at us this month. We brought on even more clients, which had us hiring employees. We had some scheduling changes with my kiddo which are always interesting waters to navigate. We also all got dressed up for Halloween and had fun as a family trick or treating.

November

We met up with a good friend of ours for Ice Cream and our kids had a blast! We went to hometown harvest in our hometown and took an awesome hay ride. The kiddo started Tae Kwon Do, and we found that it brings him a lot of solace. We had Thanksgiving with family, and we got to go see Crash-a-rama which is a night of cars crashing into each other to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for children. Our kiddos friend was diagnosed with cancer this month too which made the goals of the Shriners hospital mean that much more for us. We also took a trip to Philadelphia, all three of us, and we had a blast.

December

The month of Christmas Spirit, joy, cheer, and family! We love this time of year, and we had a full month of activities. We went and looked at lights, sang in a choir special, had dinner, brunch and more with family. Enjoyed a movie night with friends and family. Went to 2 different movies in the theater, and celebrated my Dad and Uncles birthdays.

Endings and Beginnings

This year brought so much joy, and at the same time heartache.

June was a rough month for my family. My Grandpa past away this year. He was an amazing man. He loved us so very much and wanted the best for all of us. He taught me that it is important not to waste anything; time, food, or money. He served in Korea and he was a man of honor. We will all miss him so very much.

This year was the beginning to a great future for our family too. CE Squared has grown to the point of hiring employees, and providing for us so that we can enjoy each others company. Life is too short to spend 50+ hours a week working to barely pay bills. Our company allows us to balance family time, and work time. We are able to homeschool, and travel and really enjoy life.

Here’s to new adventures in 2017!
