And We Are Back

It has been over two years since I last set foot on the grounds of a local WordCamp. These events have provided me with a community of friends and family over the years. I have no idea who I would be or what I would be doing without this amazing community. Montclair is a new one for me and a whole new area of the country to visit.

This one is extra special as my sister will be attending with the company she works for as well. We get to travel together and that means the world to me. I get to introduce her to my friends and if the stars align, maybe get her to do some WC Karaoke. There are videos somewhere of me belting out Bohemian Rhapsody among other amazing tunes.

Getting to WordCamp had several people I know end up with delayed or canceled flights. Our flight was only slightly delayed, so not too much to complain about here. We got to start the event off by meeting up with Robert Jacobi, a friend who currently works at Cloudways. The group met up at a rooftop bar that gave great views of Manhattan from across the river. New York looks huge even from a distance, and I can’t wait to be back in NYC in August.

Jason Coleman, Kim Coleman, Sam Daugherty, Robert Jacobi, Marcus Burnette, and myself.

It was such a great experience to be back around all my friends and WordPress family. I enjoyed having engaging conversations with the folks at HeroPress, learning about how people use GoDaddy products, and even learning about all the cool new things going on with the WordPress.org projects. While I wasn’t able to head into any talks myself, the hallway track was packed full of amazing new and old friends.

It feels good to be back! See you at the next WordCamp!
